WebEx

WebEx Meetings is a new program that has become available to us this past week. It has a lot of the same functions as Zoom, but it is officially supported by the district.

Zoom

Allows for video meetings, recording, and break-out rooms. Free premium for 60 days.

Screen Recording

Screencastify is just one of many browser extensions that allow for users to record their screens and audio for quick and easy screen recording.

Allows for screen recording, screen capturing and more. Free til July. Sign - up HERE.

Record a PowerPoint

Yes you can record a PowerPoint. Post it to Google Classroom and let the students view later.

On 4-8-2020, we held a training on Screencastify, Loom, Screencast-o-matic, and Nimbus. We went over recording and how to edit videos in Screencastify & Loom. We also took some time to explore Google Keep & Google Jamboard as ways to have interactive whiteboards while screen recording.

Google Forms

Make quizzes or checking for understanding questions with Google Forms. Very simple to set up and use.

Socrative

A popular online testing, quiz, quick feedback site. Quick and easy to write quizzes and questions. There is a free version and paid version. Paid version allows for you to upload your rosters and create classes.

Illuminate

District testing site. Easy to upload existing tests as pdfs. Put in your answer key and you have made an online test!

Quizalize

Another site for testing, quizzes, etc.

On 3-30-20, we held a training on Online Assessments. We looked at the pros/cons of Google Forms, Socrative, and Illuminate. The video also shows how to write assessments for each one, tips & tricks, and more. 

Interactive Lessons

PearDeck

PearDeck takes existing Google Slides/PowerPoints and makes them interactive for the students.

Flipgrid

Flipgrid is a site that allows for students to record quick videos back to the teachers. This is a fan favorite for world language teachers as they can hear and watch them.

EdPuzzle

EdPuzzle is a site that allows teacher to take videos from different sites and add in questions, record your voice over it and more.

PlayPosit

PlayPosit is very similar to EdPuzzle. Take videos and add your own flare to them. 

Desmos

Desmos started off as an online graphing calculator, but has morphed into so much more. You can now find lessons and assign them to the students. Students are interacting with graphs and tables.

Kahoot!

A game based site for review. Super easy to set up and assign to your students. An excellent site if you are looking for a new way to review in class.

Quizlet

Quizlet is another review site for students to use. Think of it as digital flashcards. You can create your own deck or search to find one that works for you. Easy to set up and use. Your students have probably been using this for awhile now.

Jamboard

Jamboard is a relatively new addition to our G Suite. Think of a Jamboard as a digital replacement for the white sheets of butcher paper you would use for group projects.

Google Classroom

Since we are a G Suite school, we should take a look at using Google Classroom as one of the way we communicate with the students. 

You can post assignments and with a click of a button give every student a copy. Create questions in the Stream and have them respond. So many options. 

Google does roll out updates to Google Classroom during the year so be aware things might move around on you.
