As the Field Study 1 and 2 finished this semester, both courses hold a special place in my heart in my journey of being a future Early Childhood Educator for a lot of reasons. I have reflected each day as I go to duty and complete the necessary hours that I need to complete but deep down, I know it is more than that. The experiences I had made me realize that the world needs teachers that inspire and nurture apart from being the one who imparts knowledge to the learners.
In these courses, I have come to love my degree and I became determined to finish it as the last semester will be about internship already. I learned a lot of things in my observation and assistantship under the care of Ma’am Donna, our resource teacher. She taught us various techniques and strategies on how to go about inside the classroom specifically in the classroom management. I noticed that she is very particular in the classroom management, and I also learned the essence of this through her ideas and the way she acts out her ideas. I admire her compassion and determination everyday as we have our duty in her class, she inspired me in a lot of way and I aspire to be like her someday, a resilient individual who knows her worth and does her work excellently.
In this experience, I have also proven that being a teacher can be very exhausting and draining. You have to deal with a lot of children, and you have to be strong enough not just in the cognitive aspect but most especially in the physical and emotional. You will be hearing each of their stories and knowing their backgrounds. As a teacher, you must always be prepared for the unexpected and the unknown. I realized that being a teacher takes dedication, passion, patience and the ability to do more with less or being resourceful of what is available.
I was also able to apply what I learned in my previous courses, and this gave me the courage to continue the journey. I know that whatever happens, there is a reason behind it. There is a reason why I am here and at the end of my field study, the bigger picture now becomes clear to me. I am studying this degree for a mission and that is to teach young children and impart knowledge that would help them become the best versions of themselves as they grow. I am aware that not many have been taking this path of becoming an educator but I am up for the challenge of going out of my comfort zone and be catalyst of change through teaching young children
