Description: Students will continue to develop language proficiency in ASL, and study forms of ASL literature. Upon completion, students will be will prepared to interact with members of the deaf community. This class will also prepare students to further their ASL studies at the college level in an interpreter training program or other ASL-related field if desired. Description: Spanish 1 is an introductory course for students with little to no experience in Spanish. Students will learn basic conversation skills, vocabulary, verbs, and sentence structure through engaging activities, games, stories, and songs. The course also introduces the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, exploring traditions, food, art, and daily life. Spanish 1 is a fun and supportive way to begin building communication skills and cultural understanding.

Description: Spanish 2 is a continuation of Spanish 1 that focuses on building stronger communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students expand their grammar knowledge by learning past, future, and other verb tenses, with special emphasis on the preterite and imperfect. Through interactive activities, stories, games, and cultural exploration, students practice speaking in sentences and writing short paragraphs while learning about daily life and travel in the Spanish-speaking world. Students can also earn up to 3 semester credits from Weber State if they sign up for the concurrent enrollment version of this class (Span 1010).

Description: Spanish 3 helps students continue developing their ability to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish at an intermediate level. Students strengthen their grammar skills by reviewing and applying key verb tenses, pronouns, and structures while expanding vocabulary and cultural knowledge. Emphasis is placed on expressing ideas more clearly, moving from simple sentences to short paragraphs. Learning remains engaging through games, stories, movies, music, and other interactive activities that make language learning both fun and meaningful. Students may earn up to 6 semester credits from Weber State if they sign up for the concurrent enrollment version of this class (Span 1020)

Description: Spanish 4 builds on the foundation established in Spanish 1–3 and is designed for students seeking higher-intermediate proficiency. The course emphasizes more advanced listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, with a focus on expressing ideas in organized paragraphs using past, present, and future tenses. Students expand vocabulary and refine grammar through real-world contexts while exploring the cultures, values, and artistic traditions of Spanish-speaking societies. Learning remains engaging through stories, games, and interactive activities that deepen both language skills and cultural understanding. Students may earn up to 9 semester credit hours from Weber State by registering for the concurrent enrollment version of this course (Span 2010).

Description: This class prepares students for the rigors of upper division Spanish credit at the University level and or helps native speakers develop a higher level of reading and writing. Up to 18 semester credits are available depending upon your score on the A.P. exam in the spring. We review all previous skills and seek to add fluency and refined speech to personal skills in writing, reading, and expression. We still play games, watch videos, sing, dance, and otherwise explore the Spanish culture in a variety of ways. With passing the A.P. Test with a 3 or better students are admitted into the bridge program and will be able to earn upper division Spanish credit being only a few classes away from a Spanish minor. AP test is not required.

Description: Students must have taken the A.P. Test and passed with a 3 or better to be enrolled in this class. Students study a variety of topics involving the Hispanic culture. An emphasis is placed on reading, writing, and expressing one’s self at the advanced levels of communication. Cultural lessons are woven together with projects and presentations to gain a deeper understanding of the Spanish speaking world. Each class in the series is 3 semester college credits. If a student completes all three classes, they will only be 2 classes away from a Spanish minor at the university level. This course is team taught with a cooperative teacher from the university. Only Spanish is spoken as we immerse ourselves in the Spanish speaking world.

Description: This is the class for those who have grown up speaking Spanish at home. Since you already know how to speak Spanish, this class focuses on refining your language skills in reading, writing, and expression. Spanish is the language of this class. We play games, sing, dance, and do a variety of activities to expand our knowledge of the Spanish speaking world. Students learn interpersonal speaking skills and how to present and share their experiences with one another. We visit the our present, past, and future. This is your chance to be paired with others that speak the language and celebrate your culture. Students wishing to earn Concurrent enrollment credit may earn up to 9 semester credit hours and those who wish to skip the Spanish A.P. course may take the A.P. exam and by passing with a 3 or better may begin their studies in the Bridge program the following year. With the completion of just one bridge course students are close to earning a minor in Spanish at the university level. Esta clase es para los que hablan español en casa. Ya saben el español así que enfocamos en mejorar las habilidades de leer, escribir, y expresarse. Se habla únicamente español en esta clase. Jugamos, cantamos, bailamos, y hacemos una cantidad de actividades diversas para engrandecer nuestro conocimiento de mundo español. Los estudiantes aprenden diestros interpersonales para expresarse y compartir sus experiencias con uno al otro. Visitamos el pasado, presente, y el futuro. Esta es su oportunidad para estar con otros hispanohablantes y celebrar su cultura. Los estudiantes que quieren recibir crédito universitario por sus esfuerzos en la clase pueden registrarse por la clase Span 2010 y recibir hasta 9 créditos de Weber State. Además, los que quieren tomar el examen de A.P. y calificarse con una marca de 3 o mejor, pueden tomar las clases de Bridge el año después sin tomar la clase de A.P.
