Description: This course is an introduction to literary forms, to close reading of literature, and to the terminology of literature. The emphasis is on fiction, poetry, and drama. The course will emphasize literary traditions, historical time periods, diverse authors, careful reading, literary analysis, and thoughtful interpretation.

Description: Students will learn to communicate in a clear, courteous, concise, complete and correct manner on both the personal and professional levels. Competency will be developed in oral, written, interpersonal, technological and employment communications. The overriding goal is to provide students with a solid communication base. Student must take and pass both courses to receive the English elective credit.
