Law Enforcement Studies (CTE – Public Safety Pathway)
Step into the world of law enforcement and public safety in this hands-on Career and Technical Education (CTE) course designed for students interested in protecting and serving their communities. Students will explore how local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies operate while gaining practical skills such as identifying criminal law violations and applying appropriate law enforcement procedures.
Key topics include the law of arrest, search, and seizure; ethical decision-making; constitutional rights; and professional standards. Through interactive simulations, crime scene investigations, scenario-based training, and real-world case studies, students will learn how officers prevent crime, conduct investigations, respond to incidents, and build trust through community policing. Emphasis is placed on developing leadership, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and decision-making skills essential for success in law enforcement and other public safety careers. Description: Medical Forensics is a Career and Technical Education course designed to introduce high school students to the medical and scientific principles used in forensic investigations. Students will learn how medical professionals and forensic specialists examine injuries, analyze trauma, and determine cause and manner of death in legal cases. The course covers topics such as basic human anatomy, wound and injury identification, forensic pathology, toxicology, blood spatter analysis, and evidence documentation.
Through hands-on labs, case studies, and simulated crime scene investigations, students will develop practical skills in observation, data collection, critical thinking, and professional communication. Emphasis is placed on workplace safety, ethical responsibility, and career pathways in healthcare, forensic science, emergency services, and criminal justice. This course helps students build real-world skills while exploring careers that combine medicine, science, and law.
