  • Discussed (2) articles: "Gov't regulation: Keeping them honest" and "Flex Muscles on Energy Drinks"

  • Discuss of "Unreasonable Restraint of Trade" (Price Fixing)

  • Discuss Types of Agencies (Regulatory vs. Non-regulatory vs. Public utility

  • Why are Public Utility companies granted monopoly status?

  • Antitrust Legislation-Discussion and students should take notes

  • Student discussed their jobs and methods of signing in and out of work. How is it monitored by employers? What is minimum wage? How does overtime work? When does overtime kick in?

  • Do you feel the government needs to regulate this area of business? Why or Why not?

  • Review and go over completed study guide questions.

  • Review case on pg. 41 dealing w/ business merger. Relating to Clayton Act

Friday 11/30

  • Chapter 4 Test is next week.

  • Homework chapter questions due. Hand-back students work and discuss each question and have students take additional notes about the various topics that each question covers.

Monday, 12/3

  • Preparation for Socratic Seminar tomorrow.

  • Read 4 articles, highlight and annotate. Create ticket questions and post to google classroom assignment.

  • Hand out "Socratic Seminar Sentence Starters" and review with class for future seminars.

  • Review what specifically needs to be turned in to the classroom for the two assignments under Chapter 4 Materials labeled

  • "Socratic Seminar Ticket Assignment" and "FCC and Net Neutrality"

  • Ask students what regulatory agency they are going to research: DOJ, FBI, CIA, ICE, AFT. Details to follow on this assignment.

  • Begin discussion of ANTITRUST and use Long Island and the public utility companies as examples for what is a monopoly?
