Diagnostic Assessment
Diagnostic assessments are designed to help provide clarity around symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment needs. Many people seek an assessment because they feel confused about what they are experiencing, feel that previous diagnoses did not fully explain their struggles, or want a more thorough understanding of their mental health and patterns.
WHO BENEFITS FROM THE ASSESSMENT?
This service can be helpful for adolescents, young adults, adults, or parents seeking professional feedback about what may be contributing to emotional, behavioral, interpersonal, or mental health difficulties. Assessments may explore concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, personality patterns, ADHD, relationship difficulties, substance use, and other areas of functioning.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
The assessment process typically involves 2-4 total hours of clinical meetings and discussion, often divided into multiple sessions lasting 1-2 hours each. During these meetings, we gather detailed information about symptoms, emotional and behavioral patterns, relationships, upbringing, trauma history, life experiences, stressors, treatment history, and overall functioning. The goal is to look at the full picture in order to determine which diagnoses and clinical explanations appear most consistent with what the individual is experiencing.
DIAGNOSTIC & ASSESSMENT REPORT
Following completion of the assessment process, clients receive a detailed written report summarizing findings, diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations. Recommendations may include therapy approaches, levels of care, referrals, coping strategies, or other supports that may be beneficial moving forward.
