Prudhoe West News

our online newsletter for parents, carers and the community

Welcome

If you want to refer back to a previous newsletter, click on 'Summer 2021' or 'Spring 2021' above (if on a laptop/PC) , or the three lines top left if on a mobile device, then pick the week you want.

Welcome back little stars!

We have been delighted to see our Little Stars group back up and running last week and this. Though a little bit different to before, in that numbers are limited, we can't sing and we all wear masks, it has been awesome to see our youngest little ones having the opportunity to socialise and making new friends. Miss Beeckmans' Bubble Time definitely seems a hit!

Thanks to all of the parents for following the rules and making the group as easy to run as it is.

The booking link is shared via the facebook group, and is active from 3pm each Sunday.

PE Uniform reminder

A reminder that children should now be wearing school PE uniform on their PE days wherever possible - please put a request in to the Uniform Swapshop if you are having any difficulty sourcing these items. A reminder of our PE uniform is below:

On PE days:

Plain grey or black jogger bottoms, black shorts, or black leggings, or school logo PE tracksuit bottoms - Red round neck t-shirt - Red sweatshirt or cardigan (or school logo grey PE tracksuit top) - White, grey, or black socks.

Plain black trainers.

CCTV FUNDRAISING

Thank you all so much for the generosity you have shown towards our CCTV fundraising. The page currently has just under £1200 in the fund, and we have also now been offered some donations from local businesses where parents are employed.

Another parent has put us in touch with a company who have offered to install our system for free, so it really is looking like this is going to happen at last.

We still need to raise about another £500 to meet the figures we are being quoted so please share if you can.

Every donation is hugely appreciated, as this will allow us to focus our school budget on our children, who we all know deserve the very best.

MIDWEEK TREAT !

Thank you also for your support with the Midweek Treat... I think we're going to find it hard to end this at half term, so we may need to think of a reason for it to continue!

Please remember to pay your 50p per child by midnight each Tuesday for your child to be included that week.

At the end of the day each Wednesday, those who have signed up will receive their "midweek treat" to have on the way home! Week 3 - Mini bags of biscuits, Week 4 - Ice pops, Week 5 - Ice lollies, Week 5 - take your pick from all the things from the term!!

HOMEWORK: Information was sent out last week and we have been delighted with the response - thank you for all you do with your children at home to support their learning. If you do not have a device your child can access Google Classroom on at home, please let the office know asap. We will start loaning out devices (1 per family) for the weekend from next week to those who have requested them.

BANK HOLIDAY BOOK BLAST!

Coming soon - over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May (start of half term) we will be having a Bank Holiday Book Blast!

As you are aware - we love reading, so we'll be having a weekend focus on our love of books, including a Sponsored Reading Challenge, and hopefully, (if we can get local businesses to agree!), a Book Character Treasure Hunt around our amazing town!

Pencil it into your diary!

(Don't worry if you're away that weekend - you'll really have all of half term to complete these tasks - you can just choose a different 100 hours in which to do your challenge.)

New menus are proving very popular! These can be found on the website (link at the bottom or click this image).

This time we've added the dates for each week to make these more user friendly! (If we couldn't keep track, we're pretty sure you struggled too!)

A reminder that you should book and pay for lunches using the clubs option on School Gateway.

EASYFUNDRAISING - support us at no cost to you

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Prudhoe West PTA with Easyfundraising?

There are over 4,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.

All you need to do is:

1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/prudhoewestpta/?utm_campaign=raise-more and join for free.

2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.

3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Prudhoe West PTA at no extra cost to you whatsoever!

There are no catches or hidden charges and Prudhoe West PTA will be really grateful for your donations.

AMAZON SMILE

If shopping on Amazon, please also support the school by accessing amazon via smile.amazon.co.uk .

The first time you log on, search for 'Prudhoe West' (Prudhoe West First School Parent Teacher Association) and select us as your organisation to support, then shop via the smile.amazon.co.uk link rather than the main amazon site. Again there is no difference to you, but this will support the school. Please share these links via your socials and with friends and family.
