Back to SCHOOL News

I'm sure you'll all be delighted at the news today that we will reopen to all pupils on Monday 8th March 2021. Attendance from this date is mandatory for all children.

We will continue our online provision for the next two weeks - please stay as committed to this as you have been so far. We know it's not easy to keep the children motivated, but we don't want anyone falling behind and being lost off when they return to school.

I will be updating our risk assessment in line with all current guidance this week and will share this with you all in advance of the return.

We cannot wait to see you all!

LET'S COUNT

We will continue with our enrichment days one day a week for the next few weeks (we know the usually timetable is tiring!). The first of these will be 'Let's Count' Day on Friday 26th February, linked to the upcoming National Census.

World Book Day will take place on Thursday 4th March (see below), then 'Sustainability' Day on Friday 12th March (back in school), focusing on the work we are doing to become Sustainability Ambassadors.

If your work, or that of anyone you know might link in to any of these topics, and you'd be willing to be part of these days, please let us know.

Due to reduced staffing in the school kitchen, we will be operating on a reduced menu for the three weeks from 8th March 2021. This will feature all of our children's favouites, but there will only be the choice of one main meal or a jacket potato. We're sure you understand. We will share the menu in advance of this date.

Exciting new menus for the summer term will also be shared before Easter.

WORLD BOOK DAY

Next week we will be celebrating all things 'books' throughout the week, but have extra special activities planned for Thursday 4th March.

Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) will be visited online by Claire Freedman; author of the 'XXX Love Underpants' series of books (plus many more). They children are encouraged to decorate a pair of 'pants' to wear on their head as a hat for this session (or make a paper headband and decorate with 'pants'!)

Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and Year 4) will have an online author visit from Ian Billings; kids stand up comic, author and poet. You can find out more about him here: https://www.ianbillings.com/

We're setting them the challenge of creating their favourite book character from a cardboard tube to bring to 'school' (real or virtual) with them on that day. (idea below)

We are asking if parents are able to make a contribution towards the cost of the author visits, they do so via the School Gateway app. (Y1-4)

Early Years (Rainbow, Ruby, Opal and Amber) will have some very special 'guests' joining them from their favourite stories!

They are also linking their activities to children's uniqueness and we invite children to decorate a 'Mr Man/Little Miss' style t-shirt to represent this (idea below).
