Welcome to the 2022/23 school year! We will work on programming skills using the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum on code.org. All assignments are posted on Google Classroom and will be completed during class time. You can email me for the Google Classroom code, or ask your student to log in and click on the Classwork tab to show you their work. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

We are currently working on Unit 3 of the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum on code.org. It is free for everyone, so you are welcome to log on and try it out for yourself!

Week 1: Students will get to know the classroom and each other. We will get logged into Google Classroom and code.org to begin our computer science journey.
Week 2: Students will learn about variables in computer programming and how to modify them. Students will begin creating variables and using random numbers to vary the programs that they are working on.
Week 3: Students will create sprites and work with various properties of sprites.
Week 4: Students will use loops to animate their sprites. They will complete a mini-project and create their own animation.
Week 5: Students will learn about using conditionals in programming. They will work on using keyboard and mouse input in their animations.
Week 6: Students will apply their knowledge of programming animations to create games. They will add to their skill set with more complex sprite movement, collisions, and functions.
