Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We always love to read the recounts of the holidays the children write on the first day back. It is lovely to hear about all their adventures and experiences - some in great detail! They seem to grow over the break and return fresh and ready for their last term in Year 3. We crammed a lot into the short week. In Maths we've been working on angles, turns and co-ordinates and completed a MyMaths quiz. We are looking at rainforests this term, gearing up to visiting one at London Zoo soon. Using an atlas, we found where they are in the world. In English we thought about the features of a non chronological report and are planning to create one about rainforests.
Meanwhile we learned to name the parts of a plant for our new science topic and planted cress seeds- which sprout and grow so pleasingly quickly - and will be measuring them to see which table's cress grows the quickest! We read the story of Rama and Sita and found out about Diwali celebrations and considered the ingredients of a healthy lifestyle and mixed them to create our own recipes for thriving. We also had fun examining our mummified tomatoes - thank you for your help with these! Most had dried out very pleasingly but there were a few gruesome ones!
Have a great weekend.
