Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We cannot believe that it is almost half term already! Spring term is passing by quickly!
In Maths this week, we have been doing Algebra (again!) and have moved on from rearranging equations and substitution to solving equations. In French with Madame Veloso, we have been identifying drinks, food items and learning how to order snacks and drinks in a café. We have practised conversations through role plays and learned about prices using Euros.
In Science, we explored the dispersion of light. Using a ray box and a prism, we investigated how a beam of white light splits into the colours of the rainbow. In Computing, we have become increasingly confident with Google Sites, making use of all the available formatting tools to improve the page layouts.
This week in English we are finishing the reading of Skellig and have had great discussions about the power of dreams. We have also been practising our summarising, by creating a comic strip to explain Michael's struggles with different friends. In Humanities we have been learning about relief maps and identifying the mountain ranges of the Middle East, whilst in History, we have been comparing medical knowledge and treatments between medieval England and Baghdad; ready for our class debate next week about where we would rather have been treated!
In Latin, we spent the lesson researching the life and rule of Emperor Trajan, famous for his victories in Dacia (Romania) and his building of the forum in Rome. We produced presentations or websites based on our research, which we will share next lesson.
Finally, in Drama this week, we continued with our script read-through of 'I'm An 11-Year Old, Get Me Out of Here!' Casting will be announced next week and we are gearing up to start rehearsals after half term!
Phew! Have a great weekend!
