Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We've had an eventful week, highlighted by Wednesday's engaging and informative workshop on the Great Fire of London. Through interactive, hands-on activities, our pupils were transported back in time to fully experience this historic event. In Maths, our focus shifted to mass and weighing scales. The children learned to read scales in various units, convert between grams and kilograms, compare item weights using greater than and less than signs, and halve and double weights. In English, we continued our work on 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' by exploring diary writing. The children were delighted when Mr. and Mrs. Grinling visited our lesson to answer their prepared questions. Acting as reporters, they formulated inquiries for the Grinlings, who then took the 'hot seat.' With these insights, the children wrote diary entries from the perspective of either Mr. or Mrs. Grinling, ensuring they included all the key features of this genre.
Have a wonderful weekend!
