Nursery
The beginning of the week saw us embarking on an adventurous journey.
This time we are diving into the prehistoric oceans where we met some of the marine reptiles that appeared during the Triassic period.
They were mainly Pesiosaurus with long necks and Ichthyosaurs, also known as fish lizards. The children are fascinated by these dinosaurs and enjoy watching the wondrous clips of these creatures on the interactive board and have lots of questions afterwards.
The children are thoroughly enjoying some fine motor skill games we have made involving dinosaurs which include designing and building an obstacle course using lolly sticks and different sized wooden blocks, which also support and develop their fine motor skills and hand and eye coordination.
The children also showed great interest in the spaghetti Maths activities where they practiced their counting skills while threading penne pasta through spaghetti sticks which was so much fun, well done nursery.
Chinese New year’s has continued this week in the nursery as we continue the celebrations with a class effort to make our own dragon !!!
So much fun was had as we recreated the dragon dance laughing and dancing behind the dragon with some children banging drums.
We did some experimenting and investigating through this multi sensory activity that involved Chinese noodles, wool, hay and other textured materials to pracrtice our scissor control and cutting skills, which was very popular!
PS. On Thursday afternoon we had a surprise visit from Mr T Rex which was the highlight of the week!
