Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It was lovely to see many of you at our fabulous Spring concert this week. Everyone performed with style and gusto, especially Year 3 on violin(!) and it was a huge success. As was the Year 4 production of Pantastic, which we were lucky enough to watch in dress rehearsal. Everyone in Year 3 is excited about the prospect of being involved in next year's performance. In the classroom we finished typing up our thrilling Egyptian stories, complete with illustrations and enticing front covers, and loved reading them to each other. They will come home so that you can admire them too. Still in ancient Egypt, we looked at the ranks of society that made up the social triangle and then we set to with straws, string, cups and blu-tak to fashion our own shadufs. It's amazing what you can create with bits and pieces and a little ingenuity. In Maths we revisited time and learned how the 24 hour clock works.
Our fossil work led us to Mary Anning, the famous palaeontologist, hearing her story and thinking about her place in history. We made a Sikh wedding invitation in RS and a poster to encourage the saving of trees inspired by "The Lorax" in PSHE and we may have made Mother's Day surprises but we couldn't possibly say!
Have a happy Mother's Day weekend.
