Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week in Reception, we have been excitedly observing our bean plants, which we planted last week. The children were thrilled to see that their beans had started to grow roots! We talked about what plants need to grow and made predictions about what will happen next. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm for nature.
As part of our ongoing discussions about Spring, we explored the changes happening around us. The children noticed the longer days, new buds on trees, and the arrival of more birds. We spoke about how Spring is a time of renewal and growth, linking this to our bean plants and the changes in the seasons.
We also listened to the Easter story and discussed why Easter is celebrated. The children enjoyed learning about the themes of new life, kindness, and hope, and they asked thoughtful questions. This led to some lovely discussions about how we can show kindness to others in our daily lives.
The highlight of our week was undoubtedly the Spring Concert! The children put on a fantastic performance, singing beautifully and showcasing their confidence on stage. It was wonderful to see their hard work and practice pay off, and we are so proud of each and every one of them. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support them—it made the occasion even more special.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our wonderful mums a very Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday. We hope you have a fantastic day filled with love and appreciation!
Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week ahead!
