Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We began with a magical performance of Peter Pan by our talented Year 4 pupils. It was such a treat to watch, and we were all impressed by their acting, singing, and storytelling skills. In maths, our focus has been on capacity. The children started by comparing different amounts of water to determine whether they were more or less than a litre. They also practiced measuring in millilitres and learned how to read scales accurately. Any hands-on activities involving measuring liquids over the Easter holidays would be a fantastic way to reinforce this learning. Our science lessons this week centered on recording the results of our plant experiment. We were fascinated to discover that the plant kept in the dark cupboard had grown unexpectedly tall! This led to a great discussion about how plants grow in search of light. In History, we explored the life and legacy of Bessie Coleman, whose courage and achievements continue to inspire. The children gained a deeper understanding of why she is such a fitting role model and an excellent choice for one of our House names. Thursday brought a joyful musical highlight with our Spring Concert! The beautiful recorder pieces performed by our Year 2s were a real delight, and we are so proud of their hard work and progress. Looking ahead, next week promises to be a busy and exciting end to the term, with Arts Week, the House Music Competition, and some Easter-themed festivities to enjoy! Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you have a restful weekend, and a happy Mother's Day and look forward to a wonderful final week of term!
