Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Music clubs are back in action and it is brilliant to start and end so many days of the week with singing, playing and studying theory! Our Y3 violinists , Y5 ukulele and Y2 recorder players are already making fabulous progress, while the Y4 musical production is shaping up to be another triumph. Year 1 have been introduced to the Woodwind family and EYFS are enjoying exploring more musical concepts and action music. Year 6 have been exploring the performance and creation of rhythmic and melodic riffs and have shown excellent ensemble skills and musical collaboration in this project.
Venturing further afield, several of our instrumentalists visited St John's Leatherhead on Thursday afternoon to rehearse and perform with a large group of peers from other Primary schools music with a 'Superheroes' theme. These opportunities to create music under the direction of different music staff, step up to learning ambitious music in a short time-frame and to socialise with other like-minded children are fantastic to develop musical skills and interests. Our children represented themselves and the school brilliantly - true superheroes, indeed!!
