Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week we have been digging into our imaginations to find suitable adjectives to describe the appearance and personality of the horrible Twits. Then we made up our own nasty characters and described them with enough detail for a friend to draw them from our description. We tried changing the ugliness to positive adjectives, although it's never as much fun to be nice! We took turns in becoming Mr and Mrs Twit and asked each other Twit related questions, answering them using our knowledge of their unpleasant natures. Our weather work continues as we visited Death Valley with the help of Google Earth, one of the hottest places on the planet. We discussed desert conditions and discovered how that terrain is formed. If we go there, we know to take plenty of water and to watch out for rattlesnakes. In Maths we worked on division with remainders and used it to solve tricky word problems. In the Science lab we tested and compared the strength of different kinds of magnets and found out where iron comes from. We could almost feel the intense heat of the blast furnace. In RS we learned about Passover and the plagues of Egypt and for PSHE we wondered what makes a family, agreeing that it can be made up in very different forms but its key ingredient is love.
Enjoy your families this weekend!
