Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week has been another busy one in the Art Department, with Reception learning how to combine basic shapes to draw their own creative rockets. It was so lovely to hear the children showing their knowledge of planets when describing where their rocket would be flying - some as far as Jupiter!
In Year 1, we have been learning to draw a selection of different animals, which I am so impressed by! The accuracy and determination that the children have shown is phenomenal. In Year 2, we have been looking at toy cars, and drawing them - ranging from sports cars, to London taxis! Nicolas even told us that the lights at the back of a car are red to show that it is slowing down.
Year 3 have been so imaginative in their artwork, designing Treasure Maps, with excellent tonal shading. In Year 4, we have been inspired by trees, looking at the different tones and shades within their branches. Year 5 have been drawing and painting beetles, developing their knowledge of tone, proportion and symmetry.
Finally, I have been so inspired by the incredible work that Year 6 have put in to their new project "This is me." We have been learning how to draw and shade different facial features, starting with an eye. The depth that the children have created within their work is a joy to see.
Warm regards,
Miss Beere
