Week 2
Year 5 have been hard at work this week - the summer is a distant memory!
In English, we are now up to Chapter 5 of our class text and have been focusing on writing detailed character descriptions, making sure we use literary devices and adventurous adjectives. We have also looked at how relative clauses can elevate our sentences. In Maths we have revisited place value, comparing numbers, rounding and Roman numerals. In Drama, Ms Wilkinson has been teaching us about what makes a good mime, and we learnt how to use our body language and facial expressions to communicate. In STEM, we continued learning about lab safety and started to look at the different ways we investigate in science, such as what a fair test is, the difference between observations and surveys, and how scientists identify patterns and variables in results. In Art, Miss Beere has been teaching us about the artist Helen Hancocks and we have been creating our own cupcake designs - yummy! In French we have been revising greetings and writing conversations in French! Finally, in History we were given an artefact challenge! We were amazed that we were able to hold and examine historical sources that we believe to be over 100 years old! Next week we will be presenting what we think we have and why we think this to the class. In Geography we are showcasing our knowledge about the circular economy by making posters. Have a great weekend!
