The first full week of the Autumn Term is complete and we are so proud of the way the children have settled into their new classes and routines and adapted to the expectations of Year 1. It was also lovely to meet so many families at Monday’s Information Evening, which we hope you found helpful.
In English, we used the ‘Drawing Club’ method to explore the familiar text of ‘The Colour Monster’. The children’s imagination ran wild as they created their own colour monsters and developed the story in diverse directions.
In Maths, we practised our addition and subtraction skills, including by jumping on a number line and playing interactive games on the whiteboard to encourage speedy recall.
Our History lesson was a chance for the children to bring in their favourite toys, to compare with those which would have been available to their grandparents’ generation. In Science, Mr. Twit challenged Year 1 to use their sense of touch to sift through his ‘worm spaghetti’, which was such slimy fun! And the ‘ear worm’ continents song ensured that Miss Lawrence was wowed in Geography with how much the pupils had remembered about the continents which make up our planet.
Have a wonderful weekend!
