It has been an exciting and productive week in Year 4, with plenty of wonderful learning and activities. In English, we began exploring Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl. We enjoyed delving into the character of Danny, discussing his personality, his relationship with his father, and his upbringing. One lesson had us sketching caravans, like the one Danny and his father live in, and labelling different parts using descriptions from the book.
Drama was lively as we immersed ourselves in the world of LAMDA. In Maths, we focused on place value, practicing spelling numbers in words, reading them aloud, and placing digits correctly in value columns. We also enjoyed using online tools to represent numbers in various ways.
In History, we began our study of the Romans, discussing what we already know and forming questions that we want to try and answer about this fascinating civilisation. Geography lessons introduced us to longitude, latitude, and map skills for identifying locations on the globe. During Classics, we learned key Latin phrases like “salvete” (hello) and “quis est?” (who is it?). In RS, we started learning about the Bible, including its structure and content.
In Art, we created London-themed collages, and in Computing, we practiced touch typing. Music was particularly exciting with chamber choir auditions, and we even carried our singing into French by performing a song about colours. It has been a fantastic week!
