Teacher Bio:

I have been sewing in the SCA for just over 30 years. I originally studied pattern drafting via, as my Laurel calls it, the hundred measurement style. For the past 15 years I have been using the Bara system as it is described in The Modern Maker Vol.1, by Mathew Gnagy, and recently I took his classes on the Bara Tape and system for pattern making. This particular class, I have been giving for nearly 8 years.

Create a Graded BARA Measuring Tape

This class will guide you through creating a BARA Measuring Tape that was used in late period by tailors. The tape will be to your measurements for your use.


Supplies you will need:

1). 4 pieces of unmarked cotton twill tape 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide and at least 12 inches longer than your largest body measurement (Hips, Waist, Chest).

2). 1 black and 1red FINE line permanent marker, such as SHARPIE.
