Praxilla is a research geek who's favorite thing to do is teach. The majority of her research had been focused on the 16th century Venetian printing industry and early modern lace and embroidery pattern books. Poetry and parlour games are also obsessions.

The Development of Italic Script

This isn't a how to calligraphy class, but rather one focused on how this script developed as handwritten manuscripts had given way to printed books and the needs of scholars were shifting. We will look at biographies of the humanists that developed the script and its use in typefaces designed by Arrighi and Tagliente. We will cover the "treasure hunting" of manuscript finders and the surprising excitement to be found in handwriting.
