14th Annual ServICE Conference. This event, which is hosted by a different school each year, was organized by our school, Wells International School, this time. ServICE is a conference that brings students together to discuss service initiatives and inspire action toward global issues.
Our main goal was to make the signs as sustainable as possible. To achieve this, we used only recycled materials, such as egg cartons and other reusable items, to craft the signs. It was a creative challenge to transform discarded materials into something meaningful and visually appealing. The process required teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability as we figured out the best way to construct the signs while keeping them eco-friendly.
This experience showed me how creativity can be used to promote sustainability. Seeing our handmade signs displayed at an event focused on service and global impact was truly rewarding. It also reinforced the idea that even small creative contributions can help spread awareness about important issues.
Learning Outcomes:
Identified own strengths and developed areas for growth → Recognized creativity and resourcefulness while improving time management.
Demonstrated that challenges were undertaken, developing new skills→ Worked with recycled materials for the first time, learning sustainable crafting techniques.
Demonstrated the skills and recognized the benefits of working collaboratively → Effectively communicated and divided tasks with a partner to complete the project.
Demonstrated engagement with issues of global significance→ Promoted sustainability and responsible consumption by using only recycled materials.
