For my CAS Service experience, I have been feeding fish almost every week at a Thai temple near my house. This activity might seem simple at first, but over time, it has become a meaningful and peaceful part of my weekly routine. Each visit reminds me of the importance of caring for living beings and respecting traditions in my community.
At first, I didn’t think much about it—I just enjoyed the quiet time and the sight of the fish gathering for food. But as I kept doing it, I started to reflect more deeply. The fish depend on people like me for food, especially in a temple pond where natural food sources may not be enough. This made me more aware of my role in contributing to their well-being, even in a small way. It also taught me the value of consistency and responsibility; knowing the fish were expecting to be fed gave me a reason to keep showing up every week.
Through this service, I’ve developed a stronger sense of empathy and respect for nature. I’ve also become more mindful of how even small actions can make a difference when done with care and consistency.
