Track Description: In Construction Core, students build projects while being introduced to proper use of hand and power tools. As they progress through the levels, students explore more in-depth projects and have opportunities to compete in the county-wide SHED competition. All students MUST pass the OSHA-10 Construction Credential in Construction Core. Students will have opportunities to complete the NCCER Credentials throughout all classes. Classes are a mix of lecture, instruction videos, demonstrations, and then project construction.
After Completing this Track: Students should have general knowledge of how to safely and properly use a variety of hand and power tools to build/repair a number of things. They should grasp the life-skill and understand how it applies to daily life of patching a wall, constructing a shed, or simply hanging a picture. Attendance is directly correlated with success.
Credentials Offered: OSHA-10 and NCCER
Careers Correlating: Rough carpenter, trim carpenter, cabinet builder, theater/production designer, or numerous manufacturing jobs in which a carpentry skillset is required.
