Track Description: The pathway begins in agriscience which looks at the production and evaluation of agricultural products. Students work with various animals ranging from small livestock to traditional small animals and apply their knowledge in real-world experiences. There is a large anatomy and physiology component of the classes as one progresses through the track which is taught in conjunction with identifying various diseases animals can contract. Social issues are also a hot topic discussed in the curriculum.
**Students in these courses have a 20 hour experience-based project (Supervised Agriculture Experience)
After Completing this Track: Students should be comfortable working with animals, they will connect their core class learning within this curriculum and use that knowledge with practical application. From here, students can move into the Vet Assisting class if interested in applying this knowledge specifically to veterinary practice.

AA415X0 H. Vet Assisting – Students will apply knowledge learned throughout animal science courses through real-world application. Students will work within real vet offices. Certified Vet Assistant is available. Health Science Academy students are prioritized for the vet class during their senior year. Please know that there are expectations around gaining internship hours and required work outside of the seated class time. Please meet with the animal science teacher prior to registering to ensure you are up for the workload associated.
Credentials Offered: TVMA (300 hours of Vet Clinic Internship Required) or IVEC (Vet Assistant, internship not required)
