Week 13: 11/12-11/15
Monday: No School, Veterans Day!
Tuesday: Students picked up where they left off before track-out on their Absolutism/Enlightenment Campaign Project. Work-day to finalize their website and to prepare for their "debate" presentation tomorrow with a candidate from the other side.
HW: Finalize your Campaign Website! Be ready to Present your Campaign tomorrow.
Wednesday: Students shared their Campaign Website with a candidate from the other viewpoint. We then began our work on our next unit, the Age of Revolutions, with the Age of Revolutions Vocab.
HW: Finish the Unit Vocabulary if we do not finish in class.

Week 12: 10/13-10/18
Monday: Students analyzed the Bill of Rights, looking for connections to the Enlightenment Thinkers. Students were given scenarios and had to determine if rights have been violated. Students then reviewed the Enlightenment with a graphic organizer.
HW: Finish the Enlightenment Graphic Organizer. Use the Enlightenment Presentation to complete.
Tuesday: Students reviewed the Enlightenment via the Interactive Google Slides activity. Students then took the Unit 4 Quiz. With any time remaining, I introduced students to the Unit 4 Performance Task: Absolutism & Enlightenment Project.
HW: Finish the Enlightenment Google Slides if not done in class and turn in to Google Classroom.
Wednesday: Students began working on their Absolutism & Enlightenment Project. Students chose which perspective they wanted to work from, and we set up their Google Site from the template I provided.
HW: Work on Absolutism & Enlightenment Campaign Project!
Thursday: Students had a work-day for their Absolutism & Enlightenment Project. Students began to populate the five pages of their Campaign Website.

Friday: Final work-day for the Absolutism & Enlightenment Campaign Project.
HW: All Absolutism & Enlightenment Campaign Projects must be submitted to Google Classroom by tonight. Students need to be prepared to present their Campaign when we return from track-out!
Week 11: 10/7-10/11
Monday: Students read selections from the textbook on the Rise of Monarchy in Europe and answered the reading questions.
HW: Continue to work on the Rise of Monarchy packet. This will be due Friday. Please bring headphones that work with the Chromebooks for class tomorrow.
Tuesday: Students completed a study of King Louis XIV of France. Students chose activities to complete to learn about the Sun King. Each student must get to 5 total points, and this is a minor grade. Students created their own version of the "Sun" King to summarize their learning.
HW: Finish any remaining activities to reach 5 points for Louis XIV. Continue to work on the Rise of Monarchy packet.
Wednesday: Students completed Guided Notes on the English Civil War. As a class, we viewed the Timelines of the History of Great Britain video.
HW: Continue to work on the Rise of Monarchy packet - due by end of class, Friday.
Thursday: Students completed a Agree/Disagree activity to introduce the Enlightenment thinkers and their political thought processes. Students then viewed the Enlightenment introduction video from Discovery Ed and took video notes.
HW: Read the "Enlightenment" Reading and complete the activities on the back. Continue to work on the Rise of Monarchy packet, due tomorrow. Students will have end of class tomorrow to complete the packet as well.
Friday: Rise of Monarchy packet is DUE! Students visited stations on five of the most important philosophers (Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu, Voltaire) and answered the questions that accompanied each station. This will collected and be a minor grade. Students then had time to finish their Rise of Monarchy packet. Students created two bumper stickers for two different philosophers to demonstrate their learning from today.
HW: Finish your Philosopher Bumper Stickers! Review Absolutism & the Enlightenment for Tuesday's Unit 4 Quiz.
Week 10: 10/1-10/4
Monday: No School! Teacher Workday.
HW: None!
Tuesday: Students created their Alston Ridge Digital Portfolio with Mrs. Brennan in the Media Center.
HW: None!
Wednesday: Students reviewed life in Europe right before the Enlightenment, including the Protestant Reformation. Students then analyzed the "Absolute Monarch" Quotes with their table groups, before completing the Unit 4 Vocabulary. As a class, we corrected or confirmed their answers.
HW: Complete the Unit 4 Vocabulary. Students ONLY have to fill out the "My Guess" Column.
Thursday: Students finished the Absolutism Quotes from yssterday. We reviewed and discussed their Vocab.
HW: NONE!
Friday: Students took notes on the characteristics of an Absolute Monarch, before creating an Absolute Monarch stick figure for a minor grade.
