Week 7: September 9-13
Monday: Students learned about the tools that make the Age of Exploration possible. Students took Column Notes on five of the essential tools, and then worked individually on the Tools Graphic Organizer using the Interactive that is posted in Google Classroom.
HW: Finish your Tools for Exploration Graphic Organizer. Due tomorrow at beginning of class!
Tuesday: Students were introduced to the "Clash of Cultures" that occurred due to the Age of Exploration between the Old World and New World. Students completed the Columbian Exchange simulation.

Wednesday: Students defined the Columbian Exchange and highlighted the various products that went from the Old World to the New World and vice versa. Students outlined the pros and cons of Columbian Exchange.

Thursday: Students began our study of Guns, Germs, and Steel to determine the factors that lead to European domination of the Americas.
HW: None!
Friday: Students completed a simulation on Colonization. Students then continued our study of Guns, Germs, and Steel and completed the worksheet.

Week 6: September 3-6
Monday: No School! Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Tuesday: Students finished the rest of the Explorers Videos. We then began our historical investigation of Christopher Columbus: Hero or Villain
HW: Finish the Columbus Primary Sources Packet Sources #1-4 if not done in class! All must be complete to move to the back page tomorrow.
Wednesday: Students finished the last two sources from the Columbus Sources Packet. Students then created either a Memorial or a Wanted Poster for Christopher Columbus based on their analysis of the Columbus Primary Sources. As a class, we discussed the merit of Columbus Day and how history should remember him.
HW: Complete Columbus: Hero or Villain Poster if not finished in class!
Thursday: Students learned about the barriers to trade that forced the Europeans to explore the seas via the Google Earth Exploration. Students completed the map first, and then worked on the graphic organizer as they moved through the Exploration.

Friday: Students examined primary sources on the motives for Exploration with the Explorers Document Based Questions (DBQ), and then wrote a summary on the "Three G's".

Week 5: August 28-30
Wednesday: Students reviewed the Renaissance with a brief online reading via Google Classroom. Students took notes on the Motives for Exploration and we checked or confirmed their Exploration Vocabulary from yesterday. Start Explorers and Navigation videos if time.
HW: Interims for Quarter 1 sent home!
Thursday: Students viewed the Explorers and Navigation videos in class. We watched each Explorers' video twice; the first for simple understanding and the second viewing to complete the Explorers Graphic Organizer.
