The Jewish Community
A huge Temple once stood in Jerusalem, and it was the centre of Jewish life.Â
People would travel hundreds of miles to worship at the Temple and to celebrate festivals.
After being exiled to Babylon, the Jews were dispersed among other nations.
Romans destroyed the second temple in 70 CE. When the Temple was destroyed, Jews no longer had a centre of worship or a role for the high priest.
