Covenant promise
Covenant - A solemn promise between two people or groups of people.The covenant is made when people accept it and undertake to fulfil their part of it.
Ex. When a man and woman get married, they solemnly promise to love each other completely for the rest of their lives.
For his part, God promises to be faithful to the married couple and give them the help they need. This is his Covenant with them.
What about God and promises?
When God makes a promise, we know that it will always be kept. That promise is as true today as it was thousands of years ago.
“Even when he disobeyed you and lost your friendship you did not abandon him to the power of death… Again and again you offered a covenant to man…” (Eucharistic Prayer IV)
Covenant with God is central to the existence of the Jewish people
It forms the foundation for the rituals and practices
