What are the challenges and benefits of this approach to religious beliefs and practice?
1. Exclusivist
The only path to God and salvation is through following Jesus Christ
Inter-faith dialogue: must be “Christian” for salvation, so evangelization is for conversion
Those who do not commit to faith in Jesus may be excluded from love and plan of God
2. Inclusivist
Jesus’ life/message brought reconciliation for the world – his saving work is essential for peace with God
Jesus’ grace is for all people who experience God’s love and mercy
Evangelizing is to enlighten, not “save”
