Jesus as the prophesied Messiah

Both Jews and non-Jews accepted Jesus of Nazareth as the long awaited Jewish Messiah (or Christ)

Jesus was crucified by the Romans in 30 CE and his followers came to be known as Christians

As a result, a conflict developed between Christian Jews and Rabbinic Jews and eventually they parted ways, Christian Jews became known as Christians
