The Tenth Plague
Passover is one of the most important feasts of Jewish year.
First month of the year, on the 15th day of Nisan, held in April over 7 or 8 days
Important because it commemorates the freeing of the Hebrews from slavery
Celebrates:
the freedom won by Jewish slaves when they escaped from the Egyptian Pharaoh over 3000 years ago.
Jewish identity as a people of God
Don’t eat anything leavened (rises) in order to commemorate the haste in which the Hebrews had to flee from the Egyptians
It’s also customary for the first born Jewish males to fast on the first day of the festival
