This College Application Handbook is a STEP-BY-STEP guide on the college application process! Whether you are in the beginning stages of research or in the process of completing the CommonApp, this guide has all the information you need!

SENIORS: General Timeline of the Application Process (Starting Senior Year)

1. Create your Common App account AFTER August 1st. 

2. Link your Naviance Account with your Common App account. You can do this by logging in to Common App to complete the education section, add at least 1 college by utilizing the colleges tab, and waiving FERPA. Your accounts cannot be linked until these three items are completed within Common App. Please see the Senior presentation video above for more detailed instructions.

3.  Add any non-Common App schools to your "Colleges I'm applying to" list under the "Colleges" tab in Naviance.

4. Ask your two teachers face-to-face for letters of recommendation and complete the Teacher's Recommendation Questionnaire within "My Surveys" in the "About Me" tab in Naviance. Print it out and hand it to them. 

5. Add your teachers as recommenders in the "Colleges" tab, under "Apply to College"-->"Letters of Recommendation." Make sure to write them a nice thank you note! 

6. Continue to work on and receive feedback on your College Essay! 

7. If you have not already done so, complete your Senior Counselor Recommendation Questionnaire - Your Counselor has sent you a Google Form to fill out. Email them with any questions.

8. Fill out and sign the Transcript Request Form and hand deliver it to your counselor. WATCH YOUR DEADLINES! 

9. If you have not already done so, take your SATs and/or ACTs.

*Reminder - You are responsible for sending your official standardized test scores directly from the testing agency to the colleges, universities, and scholarship programs.

10. Attend College Rep Visits  - Sign up using Naviance; "Colleges Home" Tab-->"College Visits"

1.  Take your SATs and/or ACTs

2.   Build your Resume & Consider a summer program.  There are so many wonderful opportunities out there at many different universities! 

3. In May/ June, ask your 2 teachers for letters of recommendation and complete the "Teacher Recommendation Survey" in the "About Me" tab, under "My Surveys." Print it out and hand it to them. 

4. Complete your "Senior Counselor Questionnaire" - Your Counselor has sent you a Google Form to fill out. 

5. Go on College Campus Visits

6.  Update "Colleges I'm Thinking about" List on your "Colleges" Tab

7. AFTER August 1st, start your Common App 

8. Start your Essay - ask your Counselor and/or Junior year English Teacher for assistance. 

9. Attend the College Rep Visits (September - November) - Sign up using Naviance
