Apprenticeships

The apprenticeship program of the IEC is a four-year program combining classroom instruction and on-the-job training sponsored by the New Jersey Apprenticeship & Training Program. The program is designed to provide the beginning apprentice with the necessary theoretical and practical training to eventually earn the status of Journeyman Electrician. A minimum of 576 hours of classroom instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training are required to complete the program. Both the classroom instruction and on-the-job training are under the direct supervision of the Apprenticeship and Training Committee. At the end of the instruction and training period, the apprentice will receive a completion certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship.

County College of Morris:

Advanced Manufacturing Boot Camp

Apprenticeships are available to those with little to no knowledge of advanced manufacturing, along with those with a basic knowledge of the field. Interested participants can take part in one or both of the following:

  • Pre-Apprenticeship Boot Camps: These are four to nine weeks long, totaling about 20 hours a week. The boot camps are for those who need to be trained in the basics of machine learning. There is a fee to take part in the Boot Camps.

  • Apprenticeship Programs: Apprentices are hired by a company to take part in on-the-job training, while receiving related technical instruction, for about one year. During an apprenticeship, participants are trained at the company as well as on CCM’s campus. This allows companies to hire suitable apprentices permanently after the apprenticeship is over.

CCM will be offering the Shop Basics course for free to high school students! Shop Basics is a 1-2 week intro course where the student will learn shop safety and receive basic knowledge about working in a shop.

Because the Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program is offering on a rolling admission basis, the students can enroll as soon as they graduate high school or when they feel they are ready. CCM also has several scholarship opportunities available for those who want to attend but may not have the proper funding to do so.
