I wanted to make a cardboard self-portrait that looks like me, so first I thought about my facial features and the details that make me recognizable. Then I imagined how I could show my personality and shape my face using cardboard. After that, I planned where each part would go and chose the pieces I wanted to use. Next, I created the portrait by cutting, layering, and gluing the cardboard onto the backing. At the end, I reflected on my work and felt that I did a good job showing my face, but if I could improve it, I would use more cardboard colors and textures to add more detail.
My pop-up book is fun and creative, especially the pop-up parts that make the pages stand up. I worked hard and planned my design, but I could make the cuts, folds, and gluing neater.
This year, I learned that art is not just about looking pretty. It also shows feelings and ideas, and anyone can improve with practice.
Good habits like patience, staying organized, and fixing mistakes helped me finish my project. The “ugly stage” showed me that art takes time and that I can improve my work.
Artists are problem solvers because they test ideas and fix what doesn’t work. Art is important to me because it lets me express myself and understand emotions.
