Breast Feeding Support

You can breastfeed and WIC can help!

The WIC Program and the American Academy of Pediatrics support breastfeeding as the preferred method of infant feeding during the first year of life.

Our staff provides education and support for those who want to breastfeed.

Our program offers the following help with breastfeeding:

Supplies:

Some women need supplies to assist with breastfeeding. We have supplies for common breastfeeding issues. We also have breast pumps for women who plan to return to work or school and continue exclusively breastfeeding their infant.

Nutritionists:

Our nutritionists are lactation educators as well as specialists for your nutritional needs. You can talk to them about concerns you have for you or your baby.

Breastfeeding Support:

The WIC program supports the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding as the normative infant feeding standard.

Trained and Experienced Staff:

Our Nutritionist is a NC lactation educator and our Peer Counselor has multiple years of exclusive breastfeeding experience.

Supplies:

We also have access to a variety breast pumps (manual, personal and hospital grade) for women that may need them. Eligibility for supplies will be determined during discussion with our nutritionist or peer counselor.
