Immunizations

The best way to prevent many diseases is through vaccination. Vaccines have almost eliminated many diseases that once caused death and disability. However, to ensure that these diseases do not return, immunization remains an important focus of public health services.

Children in North Carolina are required to be immunized against many diseases by the time they enroll in kindergarten. Keep track of what vaccines your child has had and make sure you and your children are up-to-date on all recommended immunizations. The health department maintains your child's immunization record on the North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR). We can provide a copy of your child's immunization record upon request.

More in-depth information on vaccine preventable diseases may be found at the Centers for Disease Control.
