Laboratory Services

The Yancey County Health Department Laboratory is certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. Our laboratory operates under the current standards of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute and guidelines established by the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health.

To assure the clients of YCHD are afforded quality care, only certified reference laboratories are used.

Fees are determined based on the services provided out-patients are welcome with a physician's order. Payment is due at time of service. For laboratory tests that require fasting, it is suggested you fast between 10 and 12 hours. Hours of operation for laboratory services are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. 

Walk-in labs are welcome with a physician order. Wait times are dependent upon clinic volumes.
