Nuestro grupo está formado por seis alumnos de 4º ESO que cursamos la asignatura de Cultura Científica en el IES Al-Qázeres, ubicado en la localidad de Cáceres (Extremadura). Conformamos el grupo cuatro chicas (Lucía, Raquel, Nuria y Andrea) y dos chicos (Juan Diego y Juan Fran), dirigidos por nuestra profesora Toñi Caballero, una apasionada de la Microbiología. Ella se encarga, con su entusiasmo, de inculcarnos la pasión por la Ciencia y por el deseo de aprender, motivándonos a participar en proyectos en equipo que tanto nos aportan y enriquecen. Por ello, hemos decidido a participar en esta iniciativa, creando una web que permita dar visibilidad a la figura de la mujer en las carreras STEM, destacando sus logros y aportaciones a la Ciencia que, en muchas ocasiones, permanecen en la sombra. Y aunque queda mucho por hacer, no solo en España sino a nivel mundial, desde Cáceres y en concreto desde nuestro centro educativo, trabajamos firmemente, avanzando de manera significativa en este objetivo y contribuyendo a que la presencia de las mujeres en las carreras STEM se vea cada vez más reconocida. Como ejemplo del papel destacado de la figura femenina nuestro centro cuenta con un número mayoritario de mujeres, no solo entre sus docentes sino, también, en el equipo directivo y, referido al ámbito que nos ocupa, en los departamentos de Física-Química y Biología-Geología , están integrados mayoritariamente por mujeres: 5 mujeres y 2 hombres.

Our group is formed by six students from the 4th year of ESO that study the subject "Cultura Científica" in the IES Al-Qázeres, a high school located in Cáceres (Extremadura). Our team is made up of four girls (Lucía, Raquel, Nuria and Andrea) and two boys (Juan Diego and Juan Fran), and it is coordinated by our teacher Toñi Caballero, a passionate for Microbiology. With her enthusiasm, she is the one in charge of making us love Science and encouraging us to learn new things everyday, motivating us to participate in group proyects that will allow us to learn many different things about a wide variety of different branches of Science. This is why we have decided to enrole in this proyect, by creating a website whose aim is to enhance the role of women in STEM degrees, by highlighting her achivements and contibutions to the scientific world, that often remain hidden. There is still a long way to change this , not ony in Spain, but in the entire world; in Cáceres, especially from our high school, we work really hard to achieve this by making the role and presence of females in Science gain importance. For example, in our high school most of the teachers, members of the managing team and, referring to the Science departments; Physics-Chemestry and Biology-Geology, are mainly formed by women: 5 women and 2 men.
