PKSC is the Container Systems Laboratory that accompanies PKSC 2040 (Container Systems). In this lab, I practiced techniques such as sample making, designing, and constructing various containers. Like other labs in the major, this laboratory allowed us to get on hands-on experience with small-scale pilot packaging equipment and see the concepts firsthand that we had been learning about in lecture. At one point during the semester, there was a laboratory experiment where we got to inject and make our own plastic cap and container. While the pilot packaging equipment is not the same as what is used in the industry, it still provides a nice insight as it uses the same principals. As a matter of fact, I still have the injection molded plastic cap and bottle from this lab still with me.
The artifact I have chosen from this lab is my lab report on the Permeability Rate lab we did during that semester. This report was the first report I had ever written for a packaging course and served as a great learning experience on how to write a proper lab report for future courses.
