Like many other high school students, I embarked on touring numerous universities and schools throughout my final year of high school. Clemson University was the first school I not only toured first, but also visited many times in the past due to living fairly close to the school. While the day I picked to tour was a rather cold and frozen one, I still had an amazing time learning about the many different programs that the school had to offer.
For my first year I was enrolled in the general engineering program with the initial goal of pursuing a degree in Bio-engineering. I remained in bio-engineering up until my spring semester sophomore year because I had gotten to a point where I realized I was no longer enjoying what I was studying and what laid ahead for me. With the help of my advisors and friends, I started my transition out of bio-engineering and into packaging science.
During my first year I also joined the Clemson Sailing Club as a means to meet new people while also learning how to sail. It is from this club where I have made many close friends throughout my time here at Clemson. On top of joining the club, I also joined the executive board to be more involved in the club and make it so new members could have the same memories/experiences I had throughout my time.
Starting summer of 2018, I applied for an accepted a job at Fike Recreation Center as an aquatic specialist. I worked at the university's recreation center for the rest of my time at Clemson. It was at this position that they taught professional development skill as well as helping me better improve my time management skills.
I graduate this December 2020, a fast approaching date that is daunting yet exciting as I get to start a new chapter of my life.
