In PKSC 2040, also known as Container Systems (Rigid and Flexible), this course was an examination of all the packages and containers used to develop systems to distribute products. As well as tackling the compatibility of products and packages, structural design, costs, and merchandising considerations are stressed all throughout the semester. I viewed this class as a continuation of 2020 instead of a whole new class together. I have this viewpoint because in this course, we are taking what we learned about materials from PKSC 2020 and applying them to various container systems we learned about in this course. For example, in this class I learned about how plastic bottles are made through various methods such as, extrusion blow molded, injection molded, or injection blow molded. After learning this material I made it an accidental habit whenever I pick up a plastic bottle I always try and look to determine what forming method was used to create this bottle. On top of figuring out the forming methods of random plastic bottles, I would also look to see what material these bottles were made out of as I had learned the various recycling codes and abbreviations in this course as well. This was the kind of hands-on learning I look back on fondly knowing what I learned in this class has still stayed with me today. When I took this course I believe it was Dr. Marcondes first time teaching it so therefore at the time there was no assigned artifact from this class.
