We're proud to continue supporting the incredible work our Whittier teachers and staff do on a daily basis. Our Teacher Grant Program offers up to $200 per request to fund classroom materials, academic enrichment, community involvement, and more.
Even better — the Whittier PTO Grant Request Form has been simplified! All Whittier teachers and support staff are encouraged to apply. Do you know of a teacher in need of additional funds? Help us bring their great ideas to life by recommending they complete the form.
If you’re interested in contributing funds so we can continue to support the Whittier staff in this way, there are several ways to donate (and your donations are tax deductible!). See Viking Village: Donate for more information.
Looking for a way to support our school community? We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available — from helping in classrooms and organizing events to assisting with library duties and more. Whether you have an hour a week or just want to pitch in for a special event, there’s a place for you!
Your time makes a big difference — join us!
Can you help with one (or several!) of the following?
October - January
October 2: STEAM Night
Support with event logistics (set-up/tear-down)
October 4: Fútbol Jamboree
October 15-16: Book Fair
October 30: Trunk or Treat
Set-up and tear-down support
Every helping hand makes a difference. If you can help in a big or small way, please email us at ptowhittierelementary@gmail.com or fill out the Viking Village Volunteer Form.
We have several board positions available and would love to welcome new voices and fresh perspectives to the team! Currently, we're looking for a Volunteer Coordinator and a Vice President (no previous experience required!).
Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we’d love for our PTO leadership to reflect that same diversity. Whether you’ve been involved before or are brand-new to volunteering, your perspective matters, and there’s a place for you here.
If you're curious about joining, let us know, or join us at our October 15 PTO meeting at 4 pm in the Whittier conference room (or online with Google Meet)!
We’re excited to welcome Norma into her new position at Whittier! She brings a wealth of experience and heart to our community. Originally from Mexico, she attended Abraham Lincoln Elementary and Middle School and later studied Accounting at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in Tijuana.
After moving to Boise 30 years ago, she and her husband raised two children, and for the past 15 years, she’s served as an Interpreter and Translator with the Head Start preschool program. She loves to write poems and enjoys her husband's cooking in her spare time!
Norma joined Whittier seven years ago on the playground, where she’s been a caring and familiar face to many. We’re thrilled to have her continue supporting our students in this new role!
Get ready for our third annual Be The Change event! From November 3 through 12, we ask students to reflect on how they can be the change not only at Whittier but also at home and in their communities. Students are asked to share their thoughts on sticky notes which we’ll post on a board near the school entrance.
But that’s not all! Students can bring in spare change and join the school-wide fundraiser to help raise money for two new soccer goals! Ready for the bonus? The two grades that collect the most spare change get to choose one "wild" thing for Principal Flock (and maybe even a teacher!) to do. Will the class duct tape Mrs. Champion to the wall like last year, or will they choose something equally creative like a water balloon toss or a choreographed dance routine? Only time (and December’s newsletter) will tell!
Don't forget to join our Facebook group, Viking Village Families, a place to easily share and receive items. Whether you have gently-used items to give away or you're on the lookout for something specific, Viking Village Gifters is the perfect place to exchange and support each other. You might even be able to find a tutor too!
We invite all families to join in and make the most of this exciting new resource!
