On February 26, Viking Village volunteers took turns rolling a cart of drinks and snacks around the school and joyfully serving coffee, tea, sparkling water, and snacks like fruit and granola bars to our amazing staff.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a huge success through your snack donations and the time you spent spreading cheer to the staff! And a big thank you to Blue Sky Bagels and Starbucks for supporting this event.
Thanks to you and the donations you made at our 2024 CommUNITY fundraiser, the school has been able to invest in many immediately-needed items for Whittier students. Some purchases include P.E. equipment, books, choir shirts and registration fees, a sound system for the music department, and outdoor activities for the recess alternative program.
But one of our favorite and much-needed purchases made it just in time for the boys basketball tournament! We were able to replace dingy, eight-year-old uniforms that were literally hanging on by threads with fresh, reversible, unisex jerseys. As a bonus, our track team will also be able to use these!

Thank you so much for making these things (and more!) possible! If you didn't have a chance to contribute and want to make a donation, go to Viking Village: Donate for more information.
We’d like to send a big thanks to the following businesses for their participation in our restaurant FUNdraisers!
November: Boise Fry Company donated $79
December: Chipotle donated $78
January: Gyro Shack donated $377
February: Boise Brewing donated $577
March: Kibroms donation is TBD
This school year, restaurants have donated nearly $1,600 from our restaurant FUNdraisers! When you order from a participating restaurant on the day and time of the fundraiser, the restaurant donates a portion of their sales to Whittier. We will have one FUNdraiser every month, so be sure to check out the upcoming events (and when you order during the event, let the cashier know you’re there for the Whittier FUNdraiser!).

Speaking of amazing local restaurants, a huge shoutout and thank you to Boise Brewing, not only for their generous donation, but also for their unwavering support and commitment to the Whittier community. It truly means so much to us.
From the food and drinks to the atmosphere, Boise Brewing provided a good time for all the Whittier staff and families during the February FUNdraiser.
Join us for a beautiful celebration of Whittier's connection of global community at our second annual Cultural Celebration. Come experience the rich diversity of our community through music, dance, food, and arts. This is a free event for all Whittier families. Stay tuned for more information!
Every year, the Viking Village PTO sponsors a weeklong staff appreciation event where we shower our school staff with coffee, snacks, prizes, and other fun things! It's a small way we can ensure that everyone who works at Whittier knows they are both seen and deeply appreciated.
This year's theme is mountains/camping because, as we all know, our staff moves mountains--every day!
We need help with donations, decorating, in-person volunteer slots, and a variety of other tasks required to make this event a success. If you are interested in volunteering, please email PTOWhittierElementary@gmail.com.
We started this year with $9,000 of grant money for the 24/25 school year, and still have over $7,000 waiting to be used! Grants awarded this year have helped purchase snacks, craft supplies, a Rockalingua subscription, books, and other things needed around the classroom, and we want to help even more!
If you know a Whittier teacher or staff member who is in need of financial support for a project, supplies, or even a field trip, please pass along this link to the brief application: Whittier PTO Grant Request Form.
If you’re interested in contributing funds so we can continue to support the Whittier staff in this way, there are several ways to donate (and your donations are tax deductible!). See Viking Village: Donate for more information.
Have you been wondering how you can help make a difference for students and staff at Whittier? Look no further! We would love any support you can provide, or if you’re interested in either the Secretary or Vice President position, let us know, or join us at our March 12 PTO meeting at 4 pm in the library!

Head on over to Staff & Teacher Wish Lists for grade-level wish lists along with wish lists from other support staff and everyone’s favorite drinks and snacks!
We’re going to keep these lists up through the year, so feel free to come back at a later date and see what things our teachers and staff might need.
We’d like to send out a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have dedicated time and energy to making Whittier an even more magical place.
