It takes a village, and that's exactly what we are! We're a team of parents committed to supporting our staff and student population through fundaraisers, events, financial grants, and so much more.
We are the Viking Village Volunteers, but you might have known us in a past life as the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Why’d we change our name? Because we are way more than a parent teacher organization–we are a Viking Village! We’re here to support the education and engagement of our students at Whittier Elementary by fostering relationships among the school, parents, caregivers, and teachers.
Here’s a glance at our high-level goals:
Provide support to our Whittier community
Enhance academic achievement
Coordinate and recruit volunteers to support community enrichment activities
Plan fundraising events
Meet our PTO board members, regular parent volunteers, and staff reps.
Meet our PTO president, Whitney! When Whitney is not volunteering her time at the school, you can find her and her family spending time with friends and family, cooking up some good food, or camping in the mountains!
Sharene and Lori have a daughter and son at Whittier. Lori works as a physician assistant in endocrinology. In her free time, she loves to mountain bike, ski, hike, and camp with her family. They also have 2 golden doodles that love to join the adventures. She loves the community at Whittier and is so grateful that her children and family are able to be part of it!
The former PTO president, Nicolle, has two students at Whittier. Nicolle is an Idaho native. She enjoys spending time outdoors recreating with her friends and family. For the past 15 years, she has worked for the Boise School District as a physical therapist.
The Rojas couple focus mostly on the PTO newsletter when they're not wrangling their two kids.
