Trunk-or-Treat was a huge hit this year, bringing together families, staff, and community partners for an evening of festive fun.
The parking lot became a colorful Halloween village as families and Whittier staff showcased creative trunks—from The Wizard of Oz to Super Mario, Hogwarts, and even “6/7” themes. Students in their best costumes collected treats, shared pencils, and enjoyed time with friends, showing off their Halloween spirit.
Thank you to everyone who participated, decorated, donated, or volunteered.
This year’s Parent Teacher Conference dinner was truly next-level. With the help of a Whittier family-owned business, we were able to provide personalized meals for our hardworking staff during a very busy week.
A huge thank you to Don & Charly’s for partnering with us and helping make our teachers feel appreciated!
To help our newest students feel connected from day one, every incoming kindergartner received a Whittier Viking t-shirt. This year, we proudly donated ~70 shirts to our newest crew of Little Vikings. We’re so excited to have them as part of the Whittier community!
Looking for a way to support our school community? We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available — from helping in classrooms and organizing events to assisting with library duties and more. Whether you have an hour a week or just want to pitch in for a special event, there’s a place for you!
Your time makes a big difference — join us!
Every helping hand makes a difference. If you can help in a big or small way, please email us at ptowhittierelementary@gmail.com or fill out the Viking Village Volunteer Form.
We have several board positions available and would love to welcome new voices and fresh perspectives to the team! Currently, we're looking for a Volunteer Coordinator and a Vice President (no previous experience required!).
Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we’d love for our PTO leadership to reflect that same diversity. Whether you’ve been involved before or are brand-new to volunteering, your perspective matters, and there’s a place for you here.
If you're curious about joining, let us know, or join us at our December 17 PTO meeting at 4 pm in the Whittier conference room (or online with Google Meet)!
Our 3rd annual Be The Change event filled Whittier’s halls with positivity earlier this month. Students reflected on how they can make a difference at school, at home, and in the community, adding their ideas to colorful Post-its displayed throughout the halls. Their thoughtful contributions continue to inspire us every year.
Although the event began as a fundraiser for new soccer goals, we shifted the focus to what matters most—empowering students to create the change they want to see. Still, support is welcome! High-quality, durable goals cost over $4,000, and donations to the Whittier PTO Boise Schools Foundation account will go directly toward making a dream soccer zone for our students.
Donate now through December 5th.
This school year, Whittier teachers have received more than $1,200 in PTO grants to support classroom needs and enrich student learning. Our teacher grant program helps fund academic resources and community-building opportunities—everything from STEAM supplies and Building Thinking Classroom materials to bilingual novels, Mile Club celebrations, and props for our Whittier musicals.
We’re proud to help bring these meaningful projects to life!
Don't forget to join our Facebook group, Viking Village Families, a place to easily share and receive items. Whether you have gently-used items to give away or you're on the lookout for something specific, Viking Village Gifters is the perfect place to exchange and support each other. You might even be able to find a tutor too!
We invite all families to join in and make the most of this exciting new resource!
